Hulk 's Next Appearance In A Marvel Movie

The Hulk

The Hulk is too big a character to get by unnoticed. And no, I don't mean his size. His prominence in the Avengers' affairs justifies this question following Age of Ultron: what happens to the Hulk?

We got that covered here: he lands in the ocean, near Fiji. But why did they choose this watery ending for the Hulk? Of all character developments, Hulk's is the most ambiguous.

This sort of loose end is perhaps Marvel's way of letting all possibilities unspoiled. That is, maybe they don't currently have a plan for the Hulk, but making him vanish is a nice way to bring him back when the time is right.

Even for a solo movie, if that happens at all, because, as we all know, Marvel doesn't have the rights yet.

Despite the fact Age of Ultron would have us believe the Hulk is still here, on Earth, his place in the Marvel Universe is rather unclear. Which leads me to this question: what movie will the Hulk be slotted in next?

Keep in mind Ruffalo has a multi-picture deal with Marvel! Here are my 5 best guesses!

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War

Remember Iron Man 3? Sure, there was no trace of the Hulk in the plot of the third installment of the franchise, but we did get to see Bruce Banner for a couple of seconds "actively napping" while Stark was going on with his story.

Could they pull this off in Captain America: Civil War?

Sure, the audience needs to have a sense of continuity. And serving a bit of the Hulk once in a while - even in post-credit scenes or in a flashback or whatever - is a way to reassure the public the Hulk is still out there in the MCU.

But, then again, why should we assume he won't be a major player in the events expected in Civil War? Just because he's not confirmed - yet - are we supposed to conclude he won't be included?

As much as I'd like to see Mark Ruffalo reprising his role in Captain America: Civil War - full-blown role, not a mere cameo - I have to admit there is a possibility he won't play a major part here. But granted, he'd definitely and considerably tip the scale in favor of however he sides with, if at all!

Anyway, I don't rule Bruce Banner out just based on the fact Ruffalo is not announced!

Doctor Strange

Scott Derrickson's venture programmed for 2016 will introduce this established comics character on screen. It might or it might not be an origin story, but that's not the point here.

Could the Hulk show up here? I don't rule this possibility out. Sure Steven Strange will take the stage and most of the focus will be on him.

But he's not an isolated character within the Marvel Universe. Some connections will have to be established at some point. And the question is: why not now?

Introducing the Hulk in Doctor Strange is plausible: Bruce Banner wants to control the Hulk. Science has failed him so far. Could magic help?

Turning to Doctor Steven Strange to cure - or help contain - his condition is a plot scheme Marvel could easily employ. What do you think guys? It makes sense to me!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Yeah, well, before the release of Age of Ultron, rumor had it the Hulk will leave the planet and thus allowing the studio to connect the terrestrial slice of the MCU to its stellar dimensions.

This seemed like the ideal opportunity to connect the Avengers with the Guardians of the Galaxy. And the Hulk - what a strong link! But unfortunately the Quinjet didn't leave the atmosphere.

How is Guardians of the Galaxy 2 a possibility for the Hulk then?

Keep in mind James Gunn made it clear the Hulk will not be slotted in the Guardians sequel. So, why do I shortlist this title here?

First of all, the fact the Quinjet landed in the Pacific is not a guarantee Bruce Banner was in it at the moment it crashed-landed near Fiji.

Secondly, James Gunn saying someone will not be in one of his movies and actually appearing in his ventures - well, that's not unheard of.

So, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is, in my opinion, a possibility. Though, in truth, Civil War seems much more plausible because of Banner's strong connection to the Avengers.

Avengers: Infinity Wars

Granted, this possibility seems the most plausible of all. Except for the aforementioned cameo of Bruce Banner in Iron Man 3, his other appearances have only been in the two installments of the Avengers.

So, given the fact Infinity War - Part I and Infinity War - Part II are movies of the Avengers franchise, well, do the math.

But will Marvel wait three or four years to bring back the Hulk on the big screen? That doesn't seem like such a good idea, fans will go on a rampage probably.

Sure, to bring him back after so many years won't be such a bad idea if you look at this another way: Thanos will finally show himself. I mean, as a full-blown character, not just as a puppeteer in the shadow.

So, to see the Hulk come back when the world in in greatest need and throw a punch - so to speak - at the Mad Titan, that could work very well for me. Though I'm not sure it will make u for all the three or four years of waiting!

Hulk in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.S.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.S.

That's a bit farfetched, to have a big screen character in a TV series. But why not? Lady Sif could be cited as a precedent.

If that were to happen, my best guess is we would only get to see Dr. Banner take the stage, with no Hulk coming out. Budget limitations would make that too difficult to stage.

Anyway, Banner is a scientist, so his expertise could come in handy for the agency. They could definitely make an episode with Ruffalo as guest star. But what are the chances?

Now, what do you think guys? What movie will see Rufallo reprising his role? And what are the chances to see him in a TV series? Have your say below, and stay tuned! We'll bring you the hottest scoop on all things Marvel!
