Doctor Strange Will Debut Earlier in the UK

While Marvel’s Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, will hit US theaters on November 4, the film’s UK release date has just been moved up.

The film had already been given an earlier release date in the UK than in the US, and was originally scheduled to premiere there on Friday, October 28. It has now been given the slightly earlier debut date of Tuesday, October 25.

In recent years, more and more films have been released internationally before their domestic debuts here in the States. Doctor Strange will be released in Hong Kong and France on October 26.

Cumberbatch, who is known for his roles on the BBC series Sherlock and in films such as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug; The Imitation Game; and Star Trek Into Darkness, plays neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange, whose career is in serious jeopardy following a car accident. He is soon introduced to the world of magic, and tasked with protecting the world from mystical dangers.

Starring alongside Cumberbatch are Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, and Mads Mikkelsen, with Scott Derrickson directing.
