Doctor Strange – Runtime, Poster, and Promotional Still!

Six comic book movies have been released this year that have together grossed above $4 billion at the worldwide box office. But there is still one more to arrive – the second Marvel Cinematic Universe installment for 2016, Doctor Strange. The Scott Derrickson venture is around eight weeks away from rolling into theaters, and if you are someone from the UK or certain other territories, you are even closer to watching it on the big screen.

While Doctor Strange may have different release dates for domestic and international markets, it will run for the same duration everywhere. The good news is that its running time has been finally revealed. According to the website of the Australian theater chain Event Cinemas, the movie will run 130 minutes, i.e. 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Among the comic book movies of 2016, only Deadpool and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows have had shorter running times compared to the fourteenth MCU installment. While Suicide Squad is also 2 hours and 10 minutes long, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; Captain America: Civil War; and X-Men: Apocalypse are each longer.

In the MCU, Doctor Strange is going to have the highest runtime for a superhero’s first standalone installment – Iron Man; The Incredible Hulk; Thor; Captain America: The First Avenger; Guardians of the Galaxy; and Ant-Man all had shorter runtimes.

While the Sorcerer Supreme’s upcoming standalone movie is basically an origin story, it will be the first MCU venture to deal with pure magic and mystic arts. The Thor movies have dealt with magic, but it was described as high-level science.

Besides the runtime, we have a new poster and a promotional still for Doctor Strange, both offering new looks at Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular superhero. Check them out below!
