Before production for Deadpool 2 started, we reported that Jack Kesy (The Strain, Claws) would appear in the movie. But according to a new rumor, it appears that things have changed.
The Tracking Board EIC and Meet the Movie Press host Jeff Sneider dropped the bombshell during the show’s latest episode that an insider had told him that Kesy's character had been cut from Deadpool 2:
I heard he got cut from the movie"¦I don't know if we're gonna be seeing Jack Kesy in Deadpool 2. We'll see.
Sneider's impressive track record makes him a reliable source, but he didn’t seem completely convinced. It would be wise to take his story with a grain of salt until we have a more solid scoop in the form of a confirmation from Kesy or the studio.
Casting reports appeared to suggest that Kesy would play a major villain – maybe X-Men nemesis Black Tom Cassidy - in the David Leitch flick. But there’s been no sign of him in the trailers or promotional materials.
21st Century Fox made it appear that Cable (Josh Brolin) would be the movie’s main antagonist. Cable travels back in time to kill Julian Dennison's teen mutant (according to a recent rumor, that character is Rusty Collins), but Ryan Reynolds' titular anti-hero assembles the X-Force with the aim of stopping him.
If the rumors are true, it's possible that the original plan called for Kesy's character to be the big baddie. For some reason, those in charge later opted to eliminate the character to focus on the feud between Cable and Deadpool.
