Get ready to welcome back Cindy Moon to the world of Marvel Comics. As announced by the publisher during C2E2 in Chicago, the character is set to return in a new Silk solo series, which will launch this summer. The book comes from novelist Maurene Goo with art by Takeshi Miyazawa.
“The opportunity to write a Korean American Super Hero—a woman, no less—is one that I never thought would come my way,” Goo said. “I’m so excited to flex this writing muscle and to explore new stories for Silk—a character I love. Her fierceness and loyalty are qualities I understand and relate to, and I hope readers feel the same as she fights new foes and protects old friends.”
Goo was quite thrilled about the news and also took to Twitter to proclaim her excitement.

“Some MARVELous news is out today: I’m writing SILK!!!” Goo said in her tweet. “Art by the amazing Takeshi Miyazawa! I’m so thrilled by the opportunity to write this Korean American icon and introduce you all to some new villains and adventures. Out this July!
For those who may not be familiar, Silk was introduced in 2014, but her history goes way back. On the famed day that Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider, turning him into Spider-Man, Cindy Moon was bitten by that very same spider before it died. She remained hidden for years and was eventually discovered by Spider-Man. She then became a new spider woman, dubbed Silk.
Here’s the synopsis for Silk provided by Marvel.
“Cindy Moon is back to working under J. Jonah Jameson, this time at Threats & Menaces. While investigating gang murders, Cindy draws some heat JJ’s way—and feels pretty bad about it. So Cindy is investigating as a reporter by day, and Silk is watching over JJ and keeping an eye on things at night.. Turns out the murders are being committed by the cat demon Kasha at the behest of Saya, an international businesswoman who has ties to a major Marvel villain. Saya is closer to Silk than Cindy knows, and things are about to get extremely dangerous in both Cindy and Silk‘s worlds as these ruthless villains get ever closer!”
We also got a little look at the art from Miyazawa, thanks to a newly revealed cover, which we’ve included for you to check out below.
Silk #1 is set to hit shelves in July.
