Marvel has released a brand new trailer for Eternals #1. The publisher is bringing the group back just in time for the movie, which is currently set to arrive in theaters next year. But before that happens, we’re getting this new series which will see the heroes getting tangle up with Thanos. Have a look.
The book comes from Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine, UNCANNY X-MEN, THOR) and Esad Ribić (SECRET WARS, KING THOR). The bootk was announced with a surprise trailer several months back. But this trailer gives us a much better idea of what’s coming down the pipeline. Perhaps most importantly, a bit more of the Mad Titan and how he factors into the upcoming events.
Here is the synopsis for Eternals #1.
“What’s the point of an eternal battle? For millions of years, one hundred Eternals have roamed the Earth, secret protectors of humanity. Without them, we’d be smears between the teeth of the demon-like Deviants. Their war has waged for all time, echoing in our myths and nightmares. But today, Eternals face something new: change. Can they – or anyone on Earth – survive their discovery? From the thought provoking minds of Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine, Uncanny X-Men, Thor) and Esad Ribi? (Secret Wars, King Thor) comes a new vision of the classic Marvel mythology!”
“The joy of Eternals for me is it’s just so much, but it’s also such a clean, accessible book in terms of, “These are people who we’re going to hang around with, they’re fun to be with, and oh my god! They’re in trouble,”’ Gillen told Comic Book Resources. “It does everything I love a Marvel book doing in terms of action, romance, and philosophy of ideas, but it’s also absolutely me coming back to Marvel with the kinds of skills I’ve honed over in indie books like Die, The Wicked & the Divine and Once and Future; that way of thinking about how to make a universe really pop.”
As for the movie, Chloe Zhao is directing. The cast includes Angelina Jolie, Bryan Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Salma Hayek, Lauren Ridloff, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Barry Keoghanand, Kingo and Kit Harrington. It was originally supposed to hit theaters in November of this year but has since been pushed back to November 5, 2021.
Eternals #1 hits stands on January 6.
