Titans: Robin Curses Out Batman In The Gory First Trailer!

Robin curses out Batman in the gory first trailer for DC Universe's Titans!

Don't make the mistake of presuming that DC Universe's Titans will be anything like the animated Teen Titans projects. The first official trailer makes it crystal clear that the upcoming live-action series will be a lot darker and grittier than those lighthearted, kid-friendly adaptations.

The trailer starts off with the warning that Titans has been rated TV-MA, so it's clearly not for the kids. The footage that follows justifies such rating. There's a lot of blood spilled and bodies dropped, especially at the hands of Robin. He unhesitatingly stabs a goon in the throat, stomps in another's face with his boot and shoots some others with a gun.

And that's not even all! At one point in the trailer, the Boy Wonder raises our eyebrows by proclaiming, "F*ck Batman." Of course, Robin's brutal crime-fighting style and cursing out his former mentor are not things that we expected to see. Perhaps, we would have been less surprised if it was Jason Todd and Dick Grayson in the picture.

The trailer mostly revolves around Robin and Raven, with Teagan Croft's character tracking down Brenton Thwaites' character and asking him to help her fight her inner demons. However, Starfire (Anna Diop) and Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), the other two members of the team, show up as well. We also catch glimpses of Hawk (Alan Ritchson), Dove (Minka Kelly) and the villainous Acolyte (Jarreth J. Merz). Check out the first Titans trailer below!

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.
