We were recently treated to our first look at Robin in the new Titans series, and he looked awesome! Even fans who were originally less than thrilled about the show appear to be feeling some excitement about seeing its heroes in action!
Most recently, Splash Report shared some first details on the pilot that indicate that the new series will have little in common with its predecessors. Expect to see plenty of violent action and hear some colorful language, as the show is aiming for an R-rating.
The pilot will introduce Robin, Raven, and Starfire. Robin's origins are revealed in a flashback to the Flying Graysons’ days in the circus. As an adult, Robin’s a bitter character who hates Batman and sees him in his own shadow and a loner detective who feels only apathy toward his colleagues. His biggest fear is apparently that he might become just like Bruce Wayne. But he is still wearing the Robin suit, which could reveal how he’ll get over his hate when he becomes Nightwing.
The pilot reveals more about Raven after the flashback scene that introduces her. She has an unstable psyche; her mother’s an insomniac who can’t control her; her neighbors avoid her; and her schoolmates bully her. Most importantly, we’ll learn about how she gets her powers.
Raven's introduction also reveals the show’s main antagonist, The Acolyte, an assassin whose motives and employers are unknown.
Finally, fans weren’t overly enthusiastic about some leaked on-set pics of Starfire. But there’s an explanation for that outfit: She’s dressed for a party. Her brutal introduction takes place during a car crash, with armed men chasing behind. After that, she discovers that she has multiple passports and that she’s polyglot. All of this comes together to prompt the formation of the Titans.
According to Splash Report, this will be the perfect way to launch the series.
