Avengers: Endgame SPOILERS: Russos Answer Major Captain America-Related Questions!

Russo Brothers address Avengers: Endgame spoilers related to Captain America!

Before Avengers: Endgame arrived, most fans thought that Captain America is the character that is going to get killed off. But the Russo Brothers decided to provide him with a happy ending instead, something that they didn't give to Black Widow and Iron Man.

Even though he lost a couple of friends, Steve Rogers finally got the dance he was promised decades ago. And while none of these things were shown on screen, we are positive that he also got to lose his virginity, get married and grow old with the love of his life, Peggy Carter.

In a new interview with an unspecified Chinese media outlet (via ComicBookMovie), Anthony and Joe Russo answered several spoiler-y questions that we, the fans, have had in our minds since watching Avengers: Endgame. Here, you will find the ones that are related to Chris Evans' no-longer-a-virgin superhero.

Steve Rogers's final time travel - Were there two Caps in the same timeline?

After attending Tony Stark's funeral, Steve took the responsibility of returning the Infinity Stones and Thor's Mjolnir to the past, from where the Avengers borrowed those during the second act of the April 16 release. But instead of returning back right after the tasks were accomplished, he chose to stay in the past with Peggy. That should mean that there were two Caps in the same timeline, the other one being buried in ice until S.H.I.E.L.D. discovered him in 2011. The Russos don't disagree. Here's how they address the topic:

To me, CA’s action in the end wasn’t the fact he wanted to change anything, it’s more like me has [sic] made a choice. He chose to go back to past and lived with the one he loved for the rest of his life. The time travel in this movie created an alternate reality. He lived a completely different life in that world. We don’t know how exactly his life turned out, but I’d like to believe he still helped many others when they were needed in that world.

Yes, there were two CA in that reality, it’s just like what Hulk said, what happened in the past has already happened. If you go back to past, you simply created a new reality. The characters in this movie created new timeline when they went back to the past, but it had no effect to the prime universe. What happened in the past 22 movies was still canon.

During the interview, the directors refused to reveal exactly what year did Steve/Peggy dance happened. But they suggested that it happened in an alternate reality and Marvel might end up revealing that sometime in the future.

Captain America and Red Skull – Did they fight on Vormir?

We saw Thanos and Gamora meet Red Skull on Vormir in Avengers: Infinity War. In the second act of Avengers: Endgame, we saw Hawkeye and Black Widow meet the supervillain on the planet. But we didn't get to see Cap meeting him, even though we know for sure that he went to the planet to return the Soul Stone. So, how did that meeting between the two supposedly-mortal enemies go? Here's how the Russos answered the question:

Red Skull would probably put the soul stone back to its location, and wait for the next unfortunate stone seeker to make a sacrifice. Cap and Red Skull probably won’t fight. It’s because it’s his mission to return the stone to its original place. The Red Skull is also no longer the same Red Skull from FA. He is more like a ghost, you could almost say he’s a completely different entity now. He only exists to guard the stone, his past conscious may or may not exist anymore.

Old Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame – Was it makeup or CGI?

Towards the final moments of the 22nd Marvel Cinematic Universe installment, we were introduced a Steve Rogers who has finally aged, and aged really a lot. During the interview, the directors revealed that while Old Man Steve was mostly the result of CGI, Evans gets the entire credit for the voice. In their words:

95% CG, 5% make up. But the voice was 100% Evans, no modification for that.

They also confirmed that Fat Thor, with whom the internet has had a love-hate relationship so far, was also mostly the result of CGI.
