DC’s One Of The Most Dangerous Villain Makes a Comeback!

The Return of a Formidable Foe: The Anti-Monitor in “Dark Crisis: Big Bang”

A formidable and feared villain from the DC universe is making a comeback in “Dark Crisis: Big Bang,” a comic series written by Mark Waid, illustrated by Dan Jurgens, and inked by Norm Rapmund. This villain causes chaos and destruction and has been a thorn in the side of many of DC’s iconic heroes. Fans of the series can expect an epic showdown as this potent antagonist faces off against heroes who have battled them in the past.

Readers should not take this villain lightly and can anticipate a thrilling and action-packed story with high stakes and the fate of the DC universe hanging in the balance.

“Dark Crisis: Big Bang” is a highly-anticipated comic series from DC Comics. It brings back the Anti-Monitor as the main villain. The Anti-Monitor was first introduced in 1985’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” and is known for causing destruction on a massive scale. Readers can expect to see the return of this powerful and dangerous character and an epic showdown with the heroes of the DC universe. The Anti-Monitor’s reemergence promises to be a thrilling and exciting story.

A talented team of creators, including Mark Waid (writer), Dan Jurgens and Norm Rapmund (artists), Federico Blee (colorist), and Troy Peteri (letterer), created the “Dark Crisis: Big Bang” comic book series. The story begins with Barry Allen/The Flash, informing Wallace West/Kid Flash that the Anti-Monitor, a powerful and dangerous villain, is still at large. This is particularly concerning after the events of “Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4,” where Pariah brought back infinite Earths to the multiverse. While others see an endless multiverse, Barry sees a crime scene and argues that they need to stop the Anti-Monitor once and for all before he causes more destruction in the various realities.

The Anti-Monitor’s Confrontation with Barry Allen and Wallace West

In the comic book series “Dark Crisis: Big Bang,” the two main characters, Barry Allen/Flash and Wallace West/Kid Flash, embark on a journey to explore the multiverse and its various realities. They eventually discover the Anti-Monitor on Earth-28, the same reality where the series “DC Mech” takes place. The Anti-Monitor, with a bad attitude, bellows at them, “You are not champions to the Anti-Monitor! You are not even insects! You are an insignificant pestilence! Fragments of the master universe I was born to rule!” Wallace and Wally engage in a fierce battle with the Anti-Monitor and ultimately throw the villain into the Anti-matter Universe.

The Anti-Monitor’s Impact on Barry Allen and the Multiverse

The Anti-Monitor is a powerful and dangerous villain in the DC universe, first created by Marv Wolfman, George Pérez, and Jerry Ordway. The character made its first cameo appearance in 1985’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” #2 before appearing entirely in the following issue. Throughout the series, the Anti-Monitor’s main objective is to destroy the multiverse by using Barry Allen/The Flash’s powers to power an anti-matter canon he created. However, Barry manages to escape and destroys the canon but is then plunged into the Speed Force and assumed dead. Later, Wally West/Kid Flash helps bring him back home. The Anti-Monitor’s actions and intentions have a major impact on the story and the fate of the multiverse.

In an exclusive interview with CBR, Mark Waid, the writer of “Dark Crisis: Big Bang,” spoke about his approach to writing the Anti-Monitor in the series. He mentioned that he was careful in his approach, as Dan Jurgens, the artist of the series, reminded him that the Anti-Monitor is an underexposed villain and not relied on as much as other villains like Darkseid or the Joker. Waid further explained that he went back and reread “Crisis” to capture the Anti-Monitor’s tone and cadence without being too over-the-top or corny. He also mentioned that the Anti-Monitor doesn’t need subtle motivation for what he does and is not a deep character. Instead, he is a powerful and dangerous villain who is capable of causing destruction on a massive scale.
