Marvel has released the first trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This is one of the Phase 4 MCU movies that will debut a brand new hero to the universe. Specifically, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi. The trailer offers our first look at the film, which looks quite unlike anything we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. Have a look.
The cast also includes Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. Destin Daniel Cretton directs. David Callaham, Cretton and Andrew Lanham wrote the screenplay. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige produces alongside Jonathan Schwartz, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Charles Newirth executive producing.
Here is the synopsis for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
“Marvel Studios’ ‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’ stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”

“Whoever said that you could only RECEIVE presents on your birthday? This is your VERY FIRST LOOK at the teaser poster for Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!” Liu said in his post. “You know… I never saw myself as the hero of my own story growing up. I struggled to find any Asian characters onscreen, and there were fewer still that made me feel truly proud of my heritage. It’s absolutely insane to think that in just over four months, we will have a @MarvelStudios movie featuring an almost ENTIRELY Asian cast, each full of rich nuance and dimensionality.
“Shang Chi is more than just a movie – it is a celebration of our culture and a rallying cry for the forgotten, the unseen, and the overlooked. It is a reminder to take up space, to stand tall, and to be unapologetically ourselves,” he added “(Of course, it’s also going to deliver superhero action like you have NEVER. SEEN. BEFORE.) Make history with us in theatres on September 3rd!”
Other MCU movies on the way include Black Widow, Eternals, Thor: Love and Thunder, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade, Fantastic Four and Ant-Man and the Was: Quantumania have been announced as well.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives September 3.
