The first Venom trailer didn't leave the character's fans wanting for more. It was ok for a movie trailer, but it wasn't a clip promoting one of Spider-Man's biggest foes/anti-heroes. However, the second Venom trailer broke records and has become the most viewed trailer of any film related to Spider-Man characters.
And that was thanks to the reveal of the titular character!
The San Diego Comic Con brought another clip from the movie, together with details we didn't know until now. For example, we have learned that Riot will be one of the antagonists of the movie, among other Symbiotes.
But, as far as the footage presented at the convention is concerned, it wasn't released online. However, the reactions were unanimously positive.
As expected, though, Venom won't have the spider symbol on his chest. Talking about this, director Ruben Fleischer explained:
“Because our character does not originate from Spider-Man, it makes no sense to put a spider on his chest. We tried to be as accurate as we possibly could, even though some people feel it’s inaccurate, but there is a lot of white and we wanted to give him a distinctive pattern. If you have an all-black character, especially in night scenes, he just kind of disappears. Since we couldn’t use the Spider-Man symbol, we wanted to give him another graphic element, and those veins that kind of form a shape on his chest was an original idea that we just thought looked really cool.” (via CBM)
We did expect this. But, at least, the director didn't exclude the idea of a Venom/Spider-Man crossover later on.
As far as the footage is concerned, it appears that the fans won't have to wait for too long to see it.
The movie's promotional Twitter account (Eddie's Clubhouse) exists since December last year. However, until this month, it hasn't been too active. But things have changed! The latest tweet from Eddie's Clubhouse teases the release of the new trailer:
Until next week… #Venom #EddiesClubhouse https://t.co/YNBttJVeNh

It has got to include the footage from the SDCC! The second trailer may have been great. But now is our true chance to see the anti-hero in action before the movies comes out.
