Avengers: Infinity War is more than just the beginning of the end for the current incarnation of the Avengers; it’s a worldwide phenomenon. The movie’s recently released first trailer attracted more than 230 million views in its first 24 hours, leaving the It trailer (the previous record holder) in the dust with its 197 million views.
The Infinity War trailer did what a trailer should do; it teased the war to come! In addition, it confirmed it confirmed the Russo brothers’ tease that Thanos was seeking the Infinity Stones!
The first Avengers: Infinity War trailer revealed that the Mad Titan already has the Power Stone, the Gem the Nova Corps kept on Xandar. Thanos must have obliterated the corps, right? We even see a planet that might be Xandar at the beginning of the clip.
Thanos also has the Space Stone, which was featured during Thor: Ragnarok. The trailer also shows Loki as he offers someone the Tesseract. And we all know who that is.
Right now, we’d like to know what happened to the Asgardian refugees. Thor wound up floating around in space, literally bumping into the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Will Marvel and Disney go so far as to destroy an entire race? At 1:04 in the trailer, Ebony Maw is shown walking on Asgardian corpses, so that’s probable (you can watch it below).
Then there’s the Reality Stone, which was entrusted to the Collector at the end of Thor: The Dark World. At this point, we don't know how Thanos will get his hands on that one.
The remaining three Infinity Stones are all secured on Earth. The trailer reveals that Vision lost the fight against Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive. So Infinity War will also see the Mind Stone land on the Infinity Gauntlet.
In the trailer, Doctor Strange has the Eye of Agamotto (Time Stone). But the following pics from the set show that Strange will lose his battle against the Cull Obsidian.
The Soul Stone, aka the Infinity Gem, is the only remaining stone. As it says here, it could only be in Wakanda. One of the trailer’s battle scenes takes place on this nation’s plains, so we’re guessing that the Soul Stone will be Thanos’ final target. Will he succeed?
We'll find out when Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on May 4, 2018!
