Jason Momoa wrapped up filming his part for Justice League last month. But he won't be sitting idle for too long; James Wan is set to move into the Aquaman movie's pre-production later this month and is expected to start rolling cameras in early 2017. Momoa's journey as the King of the Seven Seas might seem to have just begun, but he was actually signed to play the character way back in 2014.
In a recent interview with ET Canada, the Hawaiian actor talks about how he felt right at the beginning, when he was first approached to portray Aquaman. Momoa reveals that when Zack Snyder first met him, he thought that he would play the DC Comics anti-hero Lobo or some villainous character! When the interviewer asks whether he was worried that he would have to cut his hair and bleach it blonde, here's how he responds:
Dude, there was a lot of things that went through my head when he said Aquaman. There were a lot of things that went through my mind. I was thinking like, “Lobo.” I’m gonna play some kind of bad guy. I’m like, “Who am I gonna play?” And, yeah, he said Aquaman. I was just like, “Come again? Pardon me?” And then he explained why. I was like, “Whoa, buddy. I got your back.”
During the interview, Jason Momoa shares his feelings of gratitude toward Zack Snyder by saying stuff like "I love him to death", "He believed in me", and "I owe the guy a lot". He also praises the director's work in the Comic-Con trailer for Justice League:
The stuff that he shot, just seeing the trailer, was like “Wow!” Because everything that I brought and wanted to bring, it’s all the hopes you want to bring to the character, he made sure that stuffed stayed in there.
When the interviewer asks whether he found underwater kissing scenes hard, Momoa says, "Nah, they're easy, bro." Does that mean he’ll have one with Amber Heard's Mera in Justice League? That remains to be seen! You can check out the interview clip below!
