The casting of Ezra Miller as The Flash of DC Extended Universe disappointed a huge section of fans. Many of them weren't happy because they wanted to see Grant Gustin play his Arrowverse character in the big screens as well. They didn't like the concept of having two different versions of Barry Allen for small and big screens. Why would they need to cast Ezra when they already have Grant playing the character so well in the CW series The Flash?
Well, unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the television and cinematic universes are separate for DC. It's not like Clark Gregg would have to play Phil Coulson in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.S. because he's played the character in The Avengers and a number of other MCU movies. However, this simple difference is something many have still successfully managed to NOT understand!
But the fact is that fans have fallen in love with Grant Gustin as The Flash. That is what has kept the yearning and discontentment alive for more than year.
But the Canadian actor makes it clear that he, personally, has no problems with having Ezra as the Barry Allen of DC Extended Universe. Here's what he shared via his official Twitter account:
"I fully support Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and the Flash on the feature side of DC. I've never met the guy, but I think he is a fantastic and interesting actor."
What The Flash actor Liked and What He Didn't!
In the note, Grant Gustin stated that he would have definitely loved to play the Fastest Man Alive in a movie. This is because he loves the character and it has changed his life. And he likes the fact that the fans are expressing they would have loved seeing him portray The Flash in DCEU. But he isn't okay with the ones who are bashing the Trainwreck star for that. He said:
"I "liked" some tweets from fans that expressed their support of me and said they would've enjoyed seeing me in the movie. Nothing of anyone "bashing" Ezra. I don't condone that type of behavior (especially on the Internet) and I definitely don't partake."

Hey, Twitter. Stop putting words in my mouth. Hate that I felt the need to do this, but read this if you please. pic.twitter.com/uVeoGGYRez

Well, bashing isn't anything new when it comes to DC casting choices! People had problems initially with Heath Ledger's casting as The Joker for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. They also have had problems with other DCEU casting choices – Ben Affleck as Batman, Jared Leto as The Joker, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, etc. And if you remember, not many liked Grant Gustin casting for the Scarlet Speedster's role in Arrowverse at first.
So, let's wait for Ezra Miller's first appearance as The Flash before criticizing the casting choice. What say guys? Share via comments!
