The Flash: Will The Movie Be Similar to The TV Series?

Ezra Miller and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns talked about the upcoming movie version of The Flash on DC special Tuesday night. Some details made everyone wonder whether the movie version of The Flash will be a copy-cat of the series that is now running on television.

Geoff Johns, the one who penned 2009's The Flash: Rebirth talked about the story behind Barry Allen and it’s impossible not to notice the similarities with Season 1 of the TV series The Flash, with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen.

“Barry Allen"¦ his mother is killed. His father is blamed for it, [and] put in prison. He becomes obsessed with forensic science. He wants to prove that his father was innocent. One night, working on his mother's case, a bolt of lightning hits him and he gains super speed,” Johns said.

The Flash will have a different costume, but will he get a different story?

The story overlooks details from Flash’s past that could be explored and it is a bit disappointing that Miller doesn’t want to try something different from what is currently running on TV. Flash’s powers from the movie are also similar to those in the TV series.

“He’s been struck by lightning, that’s the mythos,” Ezra Miller said. “But he’s a human. He can run through walls. He can run across water. He can run so fast that he can move into another plain of frequency where there’s another reality.”

However, DC creatives said that they wanted to keep the movie aside from the TV series, but for now we don’t know much, or these details are too connected to The Flash from TV. Back in October IGN reported that the costume from the movie will be different from the one in the TV series, and it will look more like “Flash’s costumes in the fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us.”

Before getting his standalone movie in 2018, Flash will be introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
