Ryan Reynolds Campaigns For Blade 4 With Wesley Snipes

Deadpool & Wolverine (Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes)

Will it happen? That’s up to the folks at Marvel Studios but Ryan Reynolds wants to see Wesley Snipes return for Blade 4. After the two actors recently reunited on screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds is now openly campaigning to see Snipes get one last go as the Daywalker. There is much to consider but one imagines that this idea would have a great deal of fan support.

Reynolds recently took to Instagram to share some behind the scenes photos from Deadpool & Wolverine. Specifically, this batch focused on Snipes’ long-awaited return as Blade in the film. Reynolds and Snipes previously worked together on 2004’s Blade: Trinity, which ended the actor’s time as the character, until recently that is. As Reynolds explains in his caption, audiences loved seeing Snipes back in the saddle saying the following.

“The reaction when Wesley Snipes enters the movie is the most intense thing l’ve heard in a theater. People screaming with uninhibited joy and love is also the sound of a legacy. More Blade please. #DayWalker. ***A Logan-style send off, specifically.”

Anyone who has seen Deapdool & Wolverine can surely attest to what Reynolds is saying. Enthusiasm for Snipes’ surprise return was palpable. As for the proposed Logan-style send-off for the actor? That’s a tricky proposition. Marvel Studios has been trying to make a Blade reboot with Mahershala Ali for years. The project has had a host of writers and several directors, including Yann Demange, who recently departed. It has also been delayed several times. It’s currently listed for a 2025 release, but that seems increasingly unlikely.

Meanwhile, Snipes has maintained his enthusiasm for the character, whom he first played in 1998’s Blade. In 2018, Snipes suggested that there were conversations going on at Marvel about his potential return to the role. Here’s what he had to say at the time.

“There are a lot of conversations going around right now and we’re very blessed to have the enthusiasm and interest in something coming from that world again. We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world and, when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love the most.”

To date, Deadpool & Wolverine has made well over $1.1 billion worldwide, becoming the biggest R-rated movie ever. The multiverse has opened a host of possibilities. That’s why Hugh Jackman was able to come back as Wolverine after Logan. So who knows? Maybe Blade 4 isn’t so unrealistic after all.

Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters now.
