Zack Snyder: It Would Be “Unfair” to Return for Justice League!

Zack Snyder says it would be unfair in a lot of ways to get involved in Justice League again!

Zack Snyder recently announced his first project since his departure from Justice League, which will hit theaters in a couple of months. He also explained why he wouldn't return to finish directing the DC Extended Universe installment.

Snyder left the movie in May, after his daughter Autumn’s untimely death. Joss Whedon took over as director, and months passed with no sign that Snyder was considering a return to filmmaking. But he recently unveiled his latest project, Snow Steam Iron, a four-minute film that’s already premiered on Vero.

Snyder told Wired that his children, Willow and Eli, helped make the short. He added that the project was a "cathartic experience" for the family, and while he had some ideas for what he might do next, involving himself in Justice League again isn't among them. He felt that it would be "unfair in a lot of ways" for him to return to the tentpole superhero movie after he’d been gone so long:

I'm at a place where I feel excited about it, and I'm happy for my guys, and I love these people who are working on it. They're my family, and I think they're doing an amazing job. But I've kind of just let them do their thing.

Whedon (The AvengersAvengers: Age of Ultron) has done some reshoots in the four months since Snyder left, and we’ve been hearing a number of contradictory rumors about them. A few suggested that the reshoots were extensive and expensive, and that Whedon changed the movie's ending and altered its overall tone.

Other sources suggested that Snyder's plan and vision have been preserved, and the reshoots took some time because of the actors’ busy schedules. So, it's hard to know exactly what happened, but it's clear that Snyder wants Whedon to see the movie through.
