The role of Queen Hippolyta, the mother of Wonder Woman, is one that has instigated enough speculation already. At first we heard that the Academy Award winning actress Nicole Kidman is in talks to play the role. Then we came to hear that the actress had to pass it on due to scheduling conflicts and the role went to Robin Wright.
Later, we heard that Robin is playing a different role than that of Hippolyta in Wonder Woman and her deal was sealed even before Nicole Kidman was approached. So, we weren't sure whom we would eventually see playing the Amazonian Queen. But now, we can be sure about that!
The Hollywood Reporter has come up with the confirmation that the June 23, 2017 release has found the cast for the role of Hippolyta. It is neither Nicole Kidman nor Robin Wright! So, who is it? Find out the answer in the following segment.

The Danish actress Connie Nielsen is the one Warner Bros has signed for the role of Diana Prince's mother! We have seen the 50-year-old actress play the role of a queen before. She played the Roman Queen Lucilla back in 2000 in Ridley Scott's epic historical drama Gladiator. That was the movie that brought her international recognition.
Later, Connie appeared in movies like The Hunted, The Ice Harvest and Nymphomaniac. She also played notable roles in the television series Boss and The Following.
Connie is the third Wonder Woman cast whose role has been disclosed. Gal Gadot is playing the titular superhero in the movie while Chris Pine is playing her love interest Steve Trevor. Robin Wright, Saïd Taghmaoui, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis have also been confirmed as the cast members. But their roles in the movie have been kept under wraps.

While reporting the casting of Connie Nielsen, Variety has claimed that Robin Wright is playing Diana Prince's aunt in the movie. Do we know her name? Yes, we do! A character named Antiope is her aunt and Hippolyta's sister in the comics. So, Robin is playing this character in the movie.
Wonder Woman is currently filming in the UK and Italy. The fourth DC Extended Universe installment kicked off its filming back in November 2015.
