Back in November last year, the first live-action standalone movie of Wonder Woman kicked off its filming. The DC Extended Universe flick with a release date of June 23, 2017 features Chris Pine as Steve Trevor - the love interest of Gal Gadot's titular superhero. Pine's casting for the role was a bit of shocking since he was rumored to be in talks another role in the same universe - Green Lantern Hal Jordan. But he recently clarified that he wasn't even approached for the latter role!

While those who are familiar with comics might know about Steve Trevor, those who are unfamiliar are unlikely to know much about the character. And comic book characters are often staged in a modified way in big screen adaptations. So, we are unsure of how Steve Trevor would be presented in Wonder Woman.

Well, Chris Pine has come forward to help us! In a recent interview with Toronto Sun, the actor provided a concise description of his character. Here's what he said:

"Steve Trevor is a rogue-ish, cynical realist who's seen the awful brutish nature of modern civilization. He's a worldly guy, a charming guy and it's going to be a great, fun film. There are some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes."

Chris Pine Confirms World War I Setting for Wonder Woman!

DC Comics introduced Wonder Woman back in 1941- it was the World War II era. But the leaked photos from the upcoming movie's set indicated that the setting is World War I. The costumes suggested of that era. And in the interview, Chris Pine confirms the same. He said:

"It's a period we don't see often; it's usually World War II."

He went on to term the costume design for the movie as "˜incredible'. He added:

"We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I'd never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here."

And he praised the background casting of Wonder Woman as well:

"It highlights a really important point. When background casting is done well, it can make or break a scene. I've got people in deep background that have entire lives. It's awesome, it's actual make-believe land."

Warner Bros assigned Monster director Patty Jenkins to helm Wonder Woman. Pine thinks she is doing a great job. He stated:

"Patty is just directing the daylights out of it. It's shot beautifully feels so wonderfully period, but also has this wonderful pop sensibility."
