James Mangold's untitled Wolverine 3 will be the last time Hugh Jackman plays his iconic clawed mutant of X-Men Universe. And we now know which actor will serve as the final threat to Jackman's character! Boyd Holbrook, the actor who plays DEA agent Steve Murphy in the Netflix series Narcos, will portray the lead villain in the March 3, 2017 release. The confirmation comes from Deadline.
According to the report, Boyd has just sealed the deal with 20th Century Fox to star in Wolverine 3. He will join the movie's cast and crew when they kick off filming this May.
Boyd Holbrook made his Hollywood debut with the 2008 flick Milk. But he has been regularly appearing on big screen ventures since 2011. In recent times, we saw him portray Jeff in Ben Affleck starrer Gone Girl, Danny Maguire in Liam Neeson starrer Run All Night and Vic in Natalie Portman starrer Jane Got a Gun. Boyd won a Breakthrough Performer award at Hamptons International Film Festival for his role in the 2013 flick The Host.

Boyd Holbrook's antagonist in Wolverine 3 is described as "a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise" that, for some unknown reason, has his sight set on Logan. The report doesn't provide his name or any further details. So, we are not sure if this villainous character is one picked from the pages of comics or an entirely original creation.
But X-Men movies have a reputation for using villains from comic books. So, it's unlikely that they will go for an original one for Wolverine 3. However, they also have a reputation of presenting comic book characters in their movies that hardly resemble with their counterparts. It's hard to forget the gut-wrenching thing that they sold as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine!
