Venom Finds a Mystery Henchman in Woody Harrelson!

The venom-spewing toward Sony’s Venom has significantly diminished as the studio continues to cast one top-notch actor after another. That may fizzle out soon, as another Hollywood A-lister signs on.

Fans who hoped that Eddie Brock/Venom would pop up somewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe were less than happy when the studio announced that they would make a standalone movie for the character. Many of them changed their minds when Tom Hardy signed on for the titular role, and even more came around when Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Jenny Slate took on supporting roles.

Variety recently broke the latest news that two-time Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson was in negotiations to join the already stellar cast roster.

According to their sources, the 56-year-old actor will portray an unspecified “henchman of sorts” in the October 8, 2018 release. Sealing a deal would reunite Harrelson with director Ruben Fleischer. The pair worked together on the 2009 apocalyptic comedy horror movie Zombieland. So far, Sony's had no comment on the negotiations.

Harrelson also appeared in The People vs. Larry Flynt, The Messenger, the Hunger Games franchise, the Now You See Me franchise, and HBO’s True Detective. He starred played the main antagonist in 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, and will appear in 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story.

We also have photos from the Venom set. Rather than featuring Hardy, the shots show his stunt double as he films an apparent motorcycle chase scene. See them for yourself (via Atlanta Filming)!
