During last year's New York Comic Con, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Alan Tudyk revealed that he would be open to playing Blue Beetle in a movie if his Firefly and Con Man co-star Nathan Fillion were cast as Booster Gold. But that isn't the only superhero genre character that the actor would consider portraying.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Tudyk expressed his interest in landing a role in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Since he has been in a number of Disney projects, the interviewer asked him whether he would like to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe portion of the family. The actor responded:
I don't know how we get me in a Marvel movie"¦I'm open to suggestions (laughs). I'd love something in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. They're so much fun. I wouldn't expect any less from James Gunn. He's a perfect fit for those movies. So one of those would be great.
However, the actor also added that he doesn't see himself "as a superhero by any stretch". He went on to say that he hasn't read enough comics to suggest a particular character as a perfect fit. When the interviewer suggested that he could have played Ant-Man in the MCU, Tudyk said:
Yeah but you know, Paul Rudd nailed it. He's perfect. I couldn't have done that as well. You know, maybe a villain? I think a villain who's sort of scattered"¦
The actor added that an "off-the-rails, insane person who succumbs to his own madness" would be the kind of character that he could relate to!
It seems that James Gunn, too, is eager about signing Alan Tudyk for a role in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Fandango's Erik Davis relayed the actor's interest to him on Twitter, and he responded:
@ErikDavis @AlanTudyk is my friend and I'm always on the lookout for ways to work with him again! Our first two team ups are masterpieces!
