Marvel has released a brand new Phase 2 collection that presents the second chapter from Marvel’s cinematic age. From Iron Man 3 to Ant-Man the set box includes deleted scenes, special features where the evolution and relationships of the characters are explained along with the link between the movies.
The filmmakers go into Phase 3 as well, talking about Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The set box available on Amazon also includes Phase 2 Tag Scenes: A Making-Of.
For the fans that have followed all Marvel’s films it’s an interesting journey behind the scenes, and a fabulous recap. For those who might have missed a film or two, it can be a great revelation. However, a very interesting featurette slipped on Tumblr and you can watch it above.
The 11-minute featurette explores the creation of the entire MCU and Phase 2
Big names from Marvel like Kevin Feige, Joss Whedon (Age of Ultron), and James Gunn (GOTG) have described how everything interconnects in the MCU. Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) talked about their roles and scenes from the movies.
There are plenty behind-the-scene cuts, and at some point you get to see producers and directors having fun on the set. Co-Producer of Ant-Man, Brad Winderbaum confirms that Hope van Dyne will play a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Hope van Dyne is also going have her place in the MCU in a big way taking on the mental of the Wasp.”
And Feige reveals personal feelings about making films.
"I remember being a kid, and going to movies when you were rewarded for sitting through the credits," Feige confesses, "we got to the point where we were making our own films; we always thought it would be fun to do that.”
There is a lot more revealed in the 11-minute featurette, and you can enjoy it yourselves!
