The Hand may no longer be a threat for now, but one of Hell's Kitchen’s biggest villains is about to return to Daredevil Season 3!
Recently, Marvel officially announced that Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, would once again appear in the popular Netflix show. The supervillain was the main antagonist in the series’ inaugural season, and surprised viewers when he made a concise – but nonetheless momentous – return during the sophomore season.
We’re assuming that Fisk's role in the upcoming season will be similar to his role in first one. And thanks to a casting call that got leaked last month, we may have a good idea of who he might team up with in his rematch with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
Marvel also revealed that Daredevil will have a new showrunner for its third season. Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who replaced the first season's Steven S. DeKnight, will pass the baton to Erik Oleson.
Petrie and Ramirez went on to The Defenders Season 1, which arrived on Netflix earlier this year. Whether the studio is saving the duo for that series or they just parted ways for good remains unclear.
Oleson recently served as head writer and executive producer of Amazon's Man In The High Castle. Prior to that, he worked on The CW's Arrow, CBS' Unforgettable, and NBC's Crisis.
Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb had the following to say about D'Onofrio's return and Oleson's arrival:
Vincent is an exceptional actor, who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk. We're very excited how Marvel's Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson.
The announcement also confirmed that Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) will return in Daredevil Season 3, which will arrive on Netflix in 2018.
