Following the finale of The Defenders, it will be interesting to see how Matt Murdock evolves in his next solo season. Based on the most recent casting calls, we may have discovered who will help him become a better man/hero. From this point of view, the first two seasons of the Daredevil TV series tested Murdock to the extreme, and the second season almost completely erased the line between hero and villain. Of course we're talking about Frank Castle.
So what will New York throw at Daredevil? How will Netflix up the ante for Season Three?
According to That Hashtag Show, the series’ third season will feature a new character named Steve. However, THS says that Steve is the Marvel character Stanley Carter, better known as the villain Sin-Eater.
28-35, 5'9-6'1, open ethnicity. An athletic but socially awkward FBI Agent, needs structure and rules to suppress the darkness inside himself. Athletic, with medium build; responsible and resourceful; hair trigger temper. SERIES REGULAR
In the comics, the Sin-Eater is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who gains superhuman abilities from an experiment. He becomes a vigilante, and takes it upon himself to punish all of those in positions of power who have abused their authority. He called himself the Sin-Eater because he was punishing those who sinned.
We can draw a parallel between the Punisher and the Sin-Eater. But if Steve is actually Stanley Carter, we can rest assured that Daredevil's third season won't be more of the same, especially if Carter specifically targets Matt Murdock (Castle had no problem with Daredevil; he was after mobsters and violent gangs from the city).
Of course, we should also take into account the possibility that the Kingpin will return. After all, The Defenders virtually obliterated The Hand, providing an opportunity for Wilson Fisk to return to a city where almost all his enemies have been vanquished.
