"["¦] the enigmatic Luke Cage - a man whose past has secrets that will dramatically alter Jessica in ways she could never have imagined": that's how the official description of the character puts it. Well, that could mean a great number of things. But first of all it's the promise of a character that will impact the plot of the Netflix's Jessica Jones.
In respect to Luke Cage's development, we'll see how that goes and how accurately it reflects the canonical Marvel character, if at all. What's certain is Luke Cage's entrance to the series will be "during the course of an investigation in New York City". Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel's Head of Television, bursts with enthusiasm and guarantees "viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in "˜Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones,' and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos."
That aside, kudos to Marvel and Netflix: they have finally found a face for Luke Cage.

And they did not make this choice lightly. In Melissa Rosenberg's words (Executive Producer and Showrunner), "Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage. ["¦] We're excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life". So, no sense in doubting they made it after due consideration.
"Fans have longed to see Luke Cage brought and in Mike we've found the perfect actor", says Jeph Loeb. Mike Colter is best known for his roles in The Good Wife (Lemond Bishop), Halo: Nightfall (Locke) and American Horror Story (David).
