Few days back, Marvel confirmed Aussie actor Luke Mitchell as a new cast of Agents of SHIELD and now they confirm another star! This time it isn't for any character of Inhumans clan, rather it's for a character with inhuman attributes! It's a female villain role for which Marvel has appointed the 43-year-old actress Drea de Matteo.
Drea is most recognized for her roles in HBO series The Sopranos and FX series Sons of Anarchy. The Primetime Emmy Award winning actress will play a villainous character named Karla Faye Gideon in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.
In spite of the fact that she is supposed to appear in just one of the upcoming episodes of the ABC series, Drea's journey might extend in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as her character isn't any new in the comics!
Marvel's Words On Karla Faye Gideon!
According to the description provided by Marvel in the announcement, Drea's character in Agents of SHIELD is a gifted lady with "˜a grudge to bear' against the unit. She will be teaming up with Skye's father Cal. According to Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb, the Italian-American actress will play "˜a menacing role'.
Is The Role Connected To Daredevil?
In Daredevil: Redemption, we had a character bearing the same name as Drea's character in Agents of SHIELD. In the comics, Karla stands as the mother of Bradley Gideon who was killed brutally. Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, went to Karla to talk about her son's murder, but she accused the blind superhero of beating a villainous husband Howard Gideon. Several years later, Daredevil was ultimately the one to save her from Howard's tyrant tortures.
Even though both the characters are antagonist, the descriptions tend to suggest they are not the same. But Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil belong to the same Marvel Cinematic Universe and introducing such a character but building no connections is not so Marvel! What say guys?
