We recently learned that Jon Bernthal would make an appearance during The Defenders panel at next week’s San Diego Comic-Con International next week. At that time, we thought that The Punisher might show up in the eight-episode crossover miniseries. But now, it appears that the actor will attend the event to promote his standalone series.
In preparation for SDCC, Marvel and Netflix have released posters for both shows (via Entertainment Weekly). The posters will be exclusively available to attendees, so we’ll take that as evidence that they’re going to promote both The Punisher and The Defenders at the panel.
The colorful poster for The Defenders actually looks more like a banner. Drawn by Marvel TV Creative Director Joshua James Shaw, it features the titular team: Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist. You can pick yours up during a signing for the series at the Marvel Booth (#2329) on Saturday, July 22 at 10 am PT.
The poster for The Punisher is grim and gory, depicting a bloodstained Frank Castle with his sniper rifle slung over his right shoulder. It was drawn by Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, and will also be available at the signing at the Marvel Booth on Friday, July 21 at 3:30 pm PT.
Those who wish to attend either signing will need to obtain passes that will be distributed on a first come, first served lottery basis at the Marvel Booth at 9:15 am PT on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22.

Netflix will release all eight episodes of The Defenders on August 18. The official premiere date for The Punisher is still unknown, but the EW report mentioned that it will arrive this fall. That pretty much falls in line with last month’s comment from Dearbhla Walsh, the director of the fifth episode, who suggested that the series would debut in November.
