Back in September 2014, we heard an official announcement that Warner Bros is developing a TV series based on the DC Comics superhero team Teen Titans. The live-action to be broadcasted on TNT will be titled Titans and Dick Grayson will be its central focus. We also heard that the Oscar winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is in charge of its script along with Marc Haimes.
Now, Nerdist claims that they confirm the other five core members of Titans apart from the previously confirmed Dick Grayson for the pilot. Even though the leader of the superhero team would be a male, it seems to be a pretty female-dominant team as out of the six members, four are female superhero characters! Seems like, everyone has taken seriously the words of Joss Whedon on lack of female superhero ventures!
Let's check out who exactly the live action Teen Titans are, followed by the names that are missing out the pilot.
Dick Grayson: Robin Or Nightwing?
According to the website, the character in this live-action starts off as Robin. But the fact that he has left functioning alongside the Caped Crusader and works as a detective in Boston stands similar to Chuck Dixon's Nightwing solo comic of the 1990s. The September report by Deadline revealing the initial development of the small screen adaptation also narrated the character to emerge "˜from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing'.
Barbara Gordon: Not Batgirl Anymore!
Barbara Gordon's appearance in Titan might surprise you for the fact that she has never been the member of the superhero team in comics. But you must not forget she's been a love interest of Dick Grayson, so it isn't totally illogical to include her in the live-action. The fact that she will be the one sitting on a wheelchair and doing some computer hacking stuff for the team confirms that she isn't the Batgirl. We might see her develop as Oracle as the show progresses.
Hawk & Dove: The Romantic Couple!
Don't expect the duo to be the brothers from the original, Don and Hank Hall! Hawk and Dove in Titans would be the romantic couple version of the pair that was introduced later in comics. Nerdist claims that you can expect Hawk and Dove to have the most revolutionized characters from the comic books in terms of looks.
Raven & Starfire: As Mentioned Before!
These two female superheroes were mentioned to be a part of Titans alongside Dick Grayson. In the pilot, Raven will be introduced as Rachel Roth, the name coined as her alter-ego by Geoff Johns in the early days of this millennium. She, along with the alien princess from the planet Tamaran aka Starfire, will have a miniature appearance in the pilot. However, both the characters have been active members of the Teen Titans in the comics and might develop as strong characters as the series would progress. There's possibility to have a love triangle with Dick, Barbara and Starfire as the comics also illustrate romantic relationship between Dick and Starfire.
Beast Boy & Cyborg: Sadly Not In!
These two have been very popular members of Teen Titans but they haven't been picked for the pilot. While Beast Boy might probably appear later, chances of that with Cyborg aren't as Warner Bros seems to be happy keeping in as a member of Justice League.
