Supergirl Season 2 is set to premiere on The CW this October, and when it arrives, it will introduce us to some new characters. We already know that Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin has joined the show as Clark Kent, aka Superman, while Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter is on board as the President of the United States.
Now, we have two more actors confirmed for Supergirl Season 2 - one will be a series regular, while the other will have a recurring role. These new cast members are Floriana Lima and Ian Gomez.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Floriana Lima will have a series regular role as Maggie Sawyer in the upcoming second season of Kara Zor-El's standalone series. Those who are familiar with DC Comics are likely to recognize the character.
After making her first appearance in the 1987 issue of Superman vol. 2, #4, Maggie has served as a supporting character in both Superman and Batman comics.
In Supergirl Season 2, we will see Floriana's character as "a detective for the National City Police Department, who takes a special interest in the cases involving aliens".
Apart from her regular role in the Fox series The Mob Doctor, Floriana Lima is also known for her appearances in the web series Poor Paul, the NBC series Allegiance, and the ABC series The Family.
The other new cast member, Ian Gomez, will portray another character from DC Comics, confirms Entertainment Weekly. The character goes by the name of Snapper Carr, and he first appeared way back in 1960, in The Brave and the Bold #28. The character has been a supporting civilian Justice League character.
According to the outlet, Ian's character in Supergirl Season 2 is "a headstrong, sharp-witted newsman", hired by Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant as the editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine. It is this character's "commitment to hard-hitting journalism" that pushes the magazine's reporters to "dig deeper in the pursuit of excellence".
Snapper doesn't refrain from telling people what he thinks of them, and his "no-holds-barred approach" pushes Melissa Benoist's titular character in "unexpected ways". The character will have a recurring role.
Apart from portraying Andy in the ABC/TBS sitcom Cougar Town, Ian Gomez is also known for portraying Javier in The WB series Felicity and Mike in the My Big Fat Greek Wedding movies.
