Supergirl Season 2 Adds Cast Members for Miss Martian and Mon-El!

Supergirl Season 2 adds cast for Miss Martian and Mon-El roles!

Supergirl Season 2 is set to premiere this October 10, but on The CW instead of CBS, where the first season was aired. While the network shift provides Melissa Benoist's Kara Zor-El with the opportunity to be in touch with heroes like The Flash, Green Arrow, or ATOM, her standalone series won't back down from introducing more superheroes like it did in the last season with Superman and Martian Manhunter.

The newest member of The CW's DC Universe has officially added (via IGN) actors to portray two superheroes - Miss Martian and Mon-El.

Dreamgirls and This Christmas star Sharon Leal will play the female superhero, who was introduced by Geoff Johns in the August 2006 issue Teen Titans #37.

The other superhero will be portrayed by The Vampire Dairies star Chris Wood, who was previously added to the cast roster of Supergirl Season 2.

In the comics, M'gann M'orzz, aka Miss Martian, is not a Green Martian like Martian Manhunter. She's a White Martian who decided to be GOOD and chose to look like the green ethnic division of her planet Mars.

Mon-El is a superhero with abilities similar to those of Superman. However, unlike the Man of Steel, he is not a Kryptonian, and Kryptonite isn't his weakness. Mon-El belongs to another alien race, the Daxamites, who share a weakness to lead.

In other news, Supergirl Season 2 will cross over with The Flash Season 3 for "a special two-part musical episode". Before anyone gets confused, this has nothing to do with the four-part DC Universe crossover The CW announced a few months ago.

The announcement came during The CW's TCA 2016 presentation (via Comic Book) on Thursday.

For the musical episodes, they plan to write two original songs (one for each of the episodes), in addition to using pre-existing songs.

Those who loved The Flash Season 2 episode directed by Kevin Smith, here's some good news for you! The writer-director-fanboy will not only be back to helm an episode in the upcoming season of the Scarlet Speedster's standalone series, but will also direct one in Supergirl Season 2. This, too, was announced at TCA 2016 (via Comic Book).
