Well, the fans of the Flash comic book saw this coming ever since the Arrow spin-off debuted - there could be only one Reverse Flash and that was Harrison Wells (played by Tom Cavanagh). And the actor did reveal that he was the one to wear the yellow suit during the series' premiere, when Barry Allen's mother was killed.
And then the actor continued and said something more: that in the 17th episode the viewers will see the death of Barry's mother from the point of view of the Reverse Flash. Tom Cavanagh said: "I didn't say it was from Wells' point of view, I said it was from the Reverse Flash's point of view."
Well, this does open quite a few possibilities - but the main one is this: are there more than a single Reverse Flash in the series?
Could Eddie Thawne be a Reverse Flash?
Well, Eddie Thawne's name does bear resemblance to the comic book villain also known as Professor Zoom. Furthermore, Andrew Kreisberg (writer and producer) also said that the name wasn't just an accident or coincidence or whatever people might want to call it.
However, Tom Cavanagh also said that there is only one Reverse Flash in the series, which leads to yet another theory - that, after all, only one character wears the yellow suit.
Young and old - it is just the same
And this theory is that Harrison Wells is actually an older version of Eddie Thawne!
And the big question is: why would Reverse Flash help his enemy become better, become faster? Andrew Kreisberg did give us a hint by saying that Wells is not all bad, just like he isn't all good. Whenever he is on screen interacting with other characters, he has two agendas - one which is most obvious, and one which is yet to be revealed.
So, after all is said and done"¦
it does appear that there is just a single Reverse Flash. Except that he is actually two. But then again"¦ who was the red speedster from the night when Nora Allen died?!?
