Supergirl will premiere in autumn. No exact date was confirmed, and yet Nina Tassler, president of CBS, seems to be very optimistic about the cast and the lead lady costume. She also shares her thoughts on possible crossovers with The Flash and Arrow.
What it takes to be the Supergirl
According to CBS president, "she's got to be an every woman. She's got to be specific. She's got to be a terrific actor. I think back to having had the good fortune of being at Warner Bros. when we were doing Lois & Clark, the chemistry between Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher was really wonderful. So I think in this case, it's looking for someone who embodies both the freshness and the exuberance of being a young woman in today's challenging climate and being someone who can carry this kind of series on her shoulders".
No names are, however, shortlisted, let alone made public.
A super costume for Kara Zor-El
As Nina Tassler would put it, it's nothing but "awesome". This obvious slant aside, what she made public is the costume will be signed by none other than Colleen Atwood. Well, if it's Colleen Atwood, chances are Kara Zor-El will put on a rad costume: let's remember Atwood is a 3 time winner of Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, and also designer or Arrow and The Flash costumes.
Crossovers on the horizon?
Speaking about Arrow and The Flash. While there's a lot to put in place with the show itself, questions are already asked about possible crossovers. In Tassler's words, "that's a different network so I think we're going to keep Supergirl to ourself [sic!] right now".
But it's the same corporation, the same universe. So I guess Tassler postpones the prospect based on other reasons than legal ones.
Clearly, half enthusiastic and optimistic and half cautious, CBS president had her say about the show so far. Who do you think will eventually be selected for playing Kara Zor-El? And how long do you think it will take for Supergirl to cross over with other DC characters? Jump in and let us know your thoughts!
