Most of us may recognize Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies and as the voice of The Joker in animated DC Comics projects, but his portrayal of James Jesse, aka the Trickster, in live-action television is also worth mentioning. The actor played the part in The Flash series aired on CBS in the 1990s, as well as in the first two seasons of the present-day CW series of the same name. And the good news is that Hamill will be back as the Trickster in The Flash Season 3 too!
We can be sure about that, because the actor has recently been spotted on the series' set in Vancouver, Canada. But it appears that this time Hamill won't be playing the exact same version of the Trickster. In the two set photos shared by Twitter user Bruna Skrzypek, the actor’s appearance is dramatically different from when he played the supervillain on previous occasions.
He seems to be wearing period clothing and sporting a new hairstyle, and has a tommy gun in his hand, all of which makes him appear very similar to The Joker from the comic books. Of course, the Trickster's costumes in the first two seasons of The CW series have varied, but that isn't the only reason that we’re speculating that it isn't the same version of the character.
In The Flash Season 3 set photos, the actor is spotted facing off against John Wesley Shipp, who isn't dressed as Henry Allen, but as his Earth-3 doppelganger, Jay Garrick. Isn't that supposed to mean that Hamill is playing the Trickster from the particular alternate universe?
We will have to wait for a while to find out what is happening, since we don't have any details about the Trickster's return in The Flash Season 3. We don't even know which episode they were filming. Check out the set photos below!
