Katie Cassidy, the actress who plays Laurel Lance in Arrow, will guest star in an upcoming episode of The Flash Season 2. That might not seem to be a big surprise because such mini-crossovers happen every now and then in the Arrowverse. But it's still very interesting because she won't be playing the attorney-turned-masked vigilante Black Canary!
Katie will, instead, arrive to The Flash Season 2 to portray Earth-2 version of Laurel! Here's what Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim states at a recent press screening (via Entertainment Weekly):
You will see her on an episode of The Flash playing the Earth-2 version of Laurel Lance.
The EP went on to reveal that Laurel's Earth-2 doppelganger goes by the name Black Siren.
And The Flash Season 2 isn't the only show where Katie Cassidy will guest star. The 29-year-old actress will also lend her voice in the second season of the animated CW Seed series Vixen, which also belongs to the Arrowverse.
Will Black Siren be a hero or a villain in The Flash Season 2?
Donna Nance, aka Black Siren, was introduced back in 2002 in the animated series Justice League. She was a crime-fighter and the sole female member of the Justice Guild of America. The character is based on the Golden Age version of Black Canary and it existed in a virtual-reality city on a parallel Earth.
So, if The Flash Season 2 stays true to the source, Black Siren will be a superhero in the series. But most of the Earth 2 doppelgangers have exhibited a darker side"¦ for example, Caitlin Snow is Killer Frost on Earth 2, Ronnie Raymond is Deathstorm and Cisco Ramon is Reverb. So, if they follow the same route for Laurel Lance's Earth 2 doppelganger, this Black Siren would turn out to be a supervillain.
