UPDATE – Two new TV spots for Gotham Season 2 have been launched officially. Check those out at the end part of this post.
The second season of Gotham is set to premiere on this 21st of September and I've already informed you (with photo evidence!) that they have started the filming. And since the filming has begun, you can pretty much expect hot new stuff – casting confirmations, details and leaked photos - popping out every now and then. That's what exactly has happened!
What I have for you now is a bunch of new stuff on Gotham Season 2 which includes a casting confirmation, details and words from an executive producer and a lead actor. Let's start with Detective Jim Gordon cast Ben McKenzie has to say!
Ben McKenzie - The Joker's Fans Will Be Happy!
In a recent interview with IGN, McKenzie suggests that the appearance of Cameron Monaghan's Jerome - the younger version of The Joker - in the second season of the Fox series will delight the fans of the epic DC supervillain. While the opening season of Gotham offered a few minutes long scene to introduce Jerome, Monaghan will get a far lengthier appearance in the upcoming season. Here's what McKenzie stated (via ComicBook):
"We've now read the first four scripts, and Jerome is definitely featured. I think for fans of Joker, I think you're going to be very happy."
Hit 2 to check out more stuff on The Joker offered by Gotham EPs!
Gotham EP – The Joker Is Not Just A Single Villain!
While talking to Zap2it, Danny Cannon - one of the executive producers of Gotham - claims that the Clown Prince of Crime is not just "˜a single villain' but "˜an ideology'! And what they are doing in Gotham Season 2 is working with "˜the origins of an ideology'. The EP further adds:
"He's locked up in Arkham right now. We get to meet him again and see what he's blossomed into. Over the first episodes, we'll see how his ideology spreads."
Well, leaked photos from the set have already offered us some guidelines as to in which way the ideology will spread! He's going to do something REALLY, REALLY BAD with a school bus packed with kids!
Meanwhile, Bruno Heller - another EP of the Batman prequel series - promises something big to the fans of The Joker! He said to the site:
"I very rarely say this, but I'm confident that fans of The Joker and fans of that aspect of the Batman series will not feel cheated but will feel like something's been illuminated."
Hit 3 to learn about the love interest of Bruce Wayne who has already arrived at Gotham!
Bruce Wayne's Love Interest Arrives At Gotham!
David Mazouz's Bruce Wayne is still a kid in Gotham, but the makers of the series want him to have a love interest already! The Fox series has confirmed The Goldbergs star Natalie Alyn Lind as the cast for Silver St. Cloud - the niece of James Frain's Theo Galavan and a friend as well as love interest of young Bruce. The casting confirmation comes via Entertainment Weekly.
Natalie's character is illustrated as "˜an ethereal beauty with the pristine manners of a Gotham debutante. Add in the fact that she lost her parents at a young age, and it's understandable why she and Bruce end up drawn to each other.'
That's not all – Silver is further described as someone "˜having a heart beating with dark intent'. David Mazouz's character has already dealt with a bad girl - Camren Bicondova's Selina Kyle, aka Cat - and now here's another one!
Hit 4 to learn about "˜an uncaged animal' in Gotham Season 2!
Erin Richards – Barbara Is An Uncaged Animal!
The character development of Erin Rickards' Barbara Kean in Gotham Season 1 was something we never expected (at least I didn't)! She didn't transform from Jim Gordon's fiancé to his wife - rather she shockingly transformed into a psychopath who killed her own father and mother.
If you thought Barbara will revert to the harmless character she used to be, be sure that this won't be what happens in Gotham Season 2! That's what Erin Rickards herself confirmed to Zap2it in a recent interview. The actress stated, "She's like this uncaged animal now. She's been unleashed onto Gotham."
Rickards went on to say that her character has got rid of "˜the last structure around her, or the pressure' by killing her parents and this is what releases her as a "˜new, free being'. However, there's something that won't change at all - her feelings for Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon. According to the actress, "That's her motive whole time."
