So, the year is almost over. It's time to draw the line and see what comic book movies have made it to the top. And I don't mean the top genre aficionados would compile according to their own taste. But a top that brings together all genres and assigns a spot to each movie released until now and acclaimed regardless of category.

Yahoo Movies has put together some 40 titles and that's what they thought about comic book movies. And there are quite a few superhero blockbusters they listed, which is of no little importance.

The comic book movies that make us proud

X-Men: Days of Future Past makes it to position 25. Out of 40, I mean, which is a great score. Deemed, so far, the best of the entire franchise, we can only hope X-Men: Apocalypse will outdo its acclaimed prequel.

And what do you know? Captain America: The Winter Soldier enters the 23rd place. Kudos to the Russo brothers and to the 5-star cast that have made it clear comic book movies do score points! And not just with the fans.

James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy comes the 19th. Which is all the more unexpected, given that part of the Marvel Universe was pretty much forgotten, and no one thought they could pull it off. But they did and now we can only think sequel.

Guess who tops the bill? The Lego Movie is ranked the 5th best movie in 2014. Did you see that coming? Fun, packed with clever lines, a joy for children and adults just as well, a movie to re-watch when you need to lift your spirits.
