While the character hasn’t been cast until now (only partly, with horror icon Tony Todd lending his voice to the villain), Zoom is the biggest threat Flash has faced until now. As the executive producer said, if the Reverse Flash was a warrior, Zoom will be something like a demon – and the first time the fans will see him they will have this exact impression.

As far as his motivations are concerned, the executive producer said that they are the red thread of the first 9 episodes of the second season. Furthermore, apparently, the casting choice is related to these motivations – whatever this may mean.
