Flash – New Details about Zoom, Kid Flash and Others

Flash

In about 3 weeks, CW will debut the second season of The Flash - and we can say that we have waited enough. After the spectacular first season, in which the idea of the multiverse was established, where could the second season take us?

Well, while we will wait and see, we do have a pretty good idea, thanks to the news that has been trickling in the past couple of weeks. And where can we start besides the main villain of Flash's second season?

But first things first!

Time travel, portals to other worlds, and more

The first season of Flash was met with much more enthusiasm than anybody would have expected. Basically a spin-off of Arrow, this new series has now surpassed in popularity the series about the Star City vigilante.

Flash is flashier, if I may say so, then Arrow - since it introduces from the first season the concepts of metahumans, alternate realities, and time travel. The ending of the first season made it pretty clear: a new world of danger has been opened, once the titular hero created a wormhole just above Central City.

And that wormhole leads straight to Earth-2 - how many of you would have expected to see a series in which DC's idea of multiverse was explored? Well, the second season of Flash is all about that. As executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, the new villains will be coming from this whole other place.

But it won't be just villains. Head on to the next page for the first new character and possible love interest!

Patty Spivot (played by Shantel VanSanten)

The second season of Flash will introduce Patty Spivot who is, in the comics, a friend and partner of Barry Allen. In the series, according to Entertainment Weekly, Patty is a police officer and a possible love interest for Barry Allen. But there is more than just this.

According to the executive producer, she wants to enlist as an anti-metahuman fighter and she has quite the good reasons for this. In the second episode of Flash's season 2, she is said to be the only cop standing her ground against a supervillain. As far as her motivations are concerned, they will be revealed all throughout the second season.

On the next page, Kid Flash!

Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale)

Another Earth-2 character, Wally West is set to become the Kid Flash - but later on, since he will be just a teenager when introduced. His relationship with Barry Allen can be essential for the entire season 2. And that is because in the next episodes, starting the 6th of October, Barry will evolve not just as the Flash, but as Barry Allen himself.

Being introduced to Wally West, who has attitude problems and authority issues, is certainly going to make some sparks fly. Nonetheless, this will also be Wally's journey, since he is going to integrate into the series' universe.

Also, as the executive producer said, Wally West will mirror Colton Haynes' evolution in Arrow, in the sense that the latter also became a vigilante/hero.

On the next page, the original Flash!

Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears)

The first Flash of the comics, Jay Garrick will become the mentor of Barry Allen. Andrew Kreisberg describes their relationship as being one akin to the Han Solo - Luke Skywalker one, with Jay Garrick being the one with the most experience.

He has seen more things and battled more enemies than Barry, so sometimes he can be a bit condescendent, considering that the latter is a bit too naïve for his own good. Nonetheless, Barry will manage to change Jay in some way, with his relentless energy - so if Jay Garrick will make Barry Allen be more aware of the threats he faces, the latter will convince to former to be a better person overall.

On the next page, Zoom!

While the character hasn't been cast until now (only partly, with horror icon Tony Todd lending his voice to the villain), Zoom is the biggest threat Flash has faced until now. As the executive producer said, if the Reverse Flash was a warrior, Zoom will be something like a demon - and the first time the fans will see him they will have this exact impression.

As far as his motivations are concerned, the executive producer said that they are the red thread of the first 9 episodes of the second season. Furthermore, apparently, the casting choice is related to these motivations - whatever this may mean.
