With Supergirl moving in from CBS for its second season, the CW will now be the home of four distinct DC Comics-based series. And, just as we confirmed before, the network will air a mega-crossover event involving these four shows this fall.
During last season's crossover between The Flash and Supergirl, it was made clear that Kara Danvers doesn't belong to the same earth as Barry Allen, Oliver Queen, and others. Hers is a different earth. So, we don't have a good idea about how she would end up arriving on the earth where The Flash and others exist.
But surprisingly, it will be Melissa Benoist's character who will serve as the common thread during the four-way crossovers, according to Marc Guggenheim, executive producer of Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow!
In his recent interview with Comic Book Resources, the EP says:
It's an external threat from outside the shows that will involve Supergirl coming over to “The Flash,” then “Arrow”, then “Legends of Tomorrow.”
How is that going to happen? Guggenheim doesn't reveal that. He also doesn't offer any more hints on who that "external threat" would be. But if the Girl of Steel cannot deal with it alone, it must be a really powerful supervillain. And even if it's a supervillain she finds difficult to take down, why wouldn't she approach her cousin, Superman!
We don't know that, but what we definitely know is how the Man of Steel will look in Supergirl Season 2! Yes, the CW has released the first look at the character! Unlike the first season, Kal-El will not be depicted as a silhouette or a blur of motion.
They have already hired Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin to portray the character, and now they have revealed a photo in which he's wearing the costume. Tyler's costume seems to be an amalgam of three - the traditional Superman costume from the comic books, the costume of Henry Cavill's version from the DC Extended Universe, and Supergirl's costume from the television series!
