13. Kong: Skull Island

With an epic cast (including John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson (the recently announced Captain Marvel), and Tom Hiddleston) and an epic plan (a confrontation with Godzilla), Kong: Skull Island revealed its first trailer. And to say that it was intense is an understatement.

And if you’re wondering how a giant ape can battle the King of Monsters, this trailer reveals that Kong does stand a chance. Of course, he’s still much smaller than Godzilla – but much bigger than the previous iteration of the ape.

But Kong is now at the beginning! And it seems to me that it takes a lot of cues from 2014’s Godzilla, as far as the atmosphere and the tone are concerned. I just hope that the King will have more screen time than Godzilla did. And I do hope that his fights will be shown in full, instead of being relegated to the background, with the focus switched on the human characters.

And that even if Kong: Skull Island has a more impressive cast than Godzilla did. By the way – will Goodman go the same way as Brian Cranston did?
