Well, this may be quite ahead of time and we don't even know who was cast, but Thor: Ragnarok is coming and will bring with it (most likely) the destruction of the Asgardians. As said in here, there are quite a few reasons to believe that.
But who will bite the bullet - or the sword, for that matter - when it finally arrives? Well, obviously ahead of time, here are some possible deaths for Thor: Ragnarok!
Thor: Ragnarok
Who might we start with other than Thor? Sure enough, he is the titular character and Chris Hemsworth will still have one more movie on his contract after Thor: Ragnarok.
But his death wouldn't be such a big twist, because it has happened during the same events from the comics. Furthermore, we know that death isn't that permanent in the MCU. So Thor being the last one to die in a fierce battle, breaking the death and revival cycle, does make sense.
Loki
Granted, he is one of the best villains (if not the best) presented by the MCU. But still - didn't it seem to you too that his character became a bit tiresome during Thor: The Dark World? So maybe Thor: Ragnarok will be the best time for him to say his goodbyes. Sure enough, some fans might be angered, but if this is the final installment in the Thor franchise, why shouldn't it end with a bang?
Loki might as well die seeing the errors of his way and opposing a threat that he knows he cannot stop, just to buy Thor some time. Sounds good, doesn't it?
Jane Foster
Sure enough, Thor: Ragnarok being a cosmic event will probably take place in Asgard. However, Jane Foster was a goat"¦ in the realm of Gods before. Killing her only makes sense, since her future is a great unknown for the MCU. Especially since he skipped Age of Ultron.
Furthermore, this could make way for another romance to happen"¦
Lady Sif
Sif is the last known Asgardian female, after the death of Frigga - so it wouldn't make sense killing her too. However, her death could be the impulse that makes Thor go in a berserker rage and overcome his enemies"¦
Even more, it would make a lot of sense to kill her off especially since killing her doesn't make sense! To us, the viewers, at least"¦
Heimdall
Well, he was already in Hel in Thor's vision"¦
Plus, he proved useless in Thor and Thor: The Dark World as the all-seeing guardian of Asgard. Furthermore, if an invasion will happen, then most certainly he will be the one to fall first, being the one to guard the borders.
The Warriors Three
Now these three characters are most likely to be killed, in the most heroic way, of course, during the events of Thor: Ragnarok. And that is because they are always in the middle of the battle.
And there is also one more reason - in the MCU at least, they are just fillers, one dimensional characters who only push the plot forward or are just there.
