Marvel’s 2020 Mysterious Projects

To everybody's surprise, Marvel proved last week that it didn't announce all of its Phase III movies. Thus, the studio revealed that the Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel will be released on the 6th of July. The surprise, however, came from somewhere else.

Until now, we have believed that the Inhumans will be the last movie of the Phase III of MCU. And it would have been a fitting end, since it meant that the Inhuman Royal Family will make its entrance, with probably the next big threat after Thanos.

So now we know that it won't be the Inhumans that last project on Marvel's Phase III slate. The studio surprisingly revealed 3 mysterious projects for 2020, announcement which was made as a Phase III update. And this brings two questions: what movies are these and why didn't the studio reveal the names, just like it usually does?

Obviously, the fans have already started guessing what kind of treats the studio has prepared. And speaking of surprises, we do remember that Kevin Feige and Mark Ruffalo teased one, as far as the Hulk is concerned. So check out the next page to see what kind of movies we expect to bring Marvel's Phase III to an end. Check out the next page for more!

World War Hulk

World War Hulk

The most recent rumor about the Jade Giant is that he will appear in Thor: Ragnarok - Hulk will be thus discovered in one of the Realms by Thor, on a Planet Hulk-like planet. In the end, the two either fights side by side against an unnamed villain (Surtur's name is the one mentioned the most), either fight one against another (with Hulk being mind-controlled by an unnamed villain, about whom we can already guess to be Loki).

If this happens, we can already see a window of opportunity for a World War Hulk adaptation, following the Infinity War. Of course, the Hulk will battle Thanos at one point - however, because he is the one nobody trusts, he can break at some point and actually see everybody as an enemy.

This has happened in Age of Ultron, when Scarlet Witch played with his mind. So we can see it happening again - we cannot say what his breaking point is. Maybe the death of Black Widow? Who knows - we just found out that these two share a romantic relationship.

Is this the kind of surprise we can expect from Marvel? Sure it is! A Hulk solo flick is out of the question at this moment - since another studio holds the distribution rights. However, if the Hulk clashes with the Avengers (whoever they might be at that moment), things change.

On the next page, a different kind of surprise!

Marvel's Iron Man 4

Iron Man 4
Iron Man 4

Iron Man is easily the most recognizable character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is the one who started it all and, until now, he is the one character who has united the Avengers in their two outings.

We have already seen what seemed to be the end of the trilogy - in Iron Man 3, one of the most disappointing superhero flicks ever. And it was disappointing - while promising a darker take as well as the most well-known villain the hero has faced, the movie pulled a 180 and made the Mandarin into a literal joke.

Nonetheless, we know that the supervillain actually exists. And we know that he is literally pissed for having his name used by a silly actor, who was just the puppet of a third-rate villain. So we can only hope for him to show his face.

And this can happen during an actual grand-finale for the Iron Man franchise. Marvel can pull this off - and we all know that we need another great villain after the defeat of Thanos.

Furthermore, we can also add that the first mysterious flick will be released on the 1st of May 2020 - all the Iron Man films were released in May.

On the next page, the flick nobody considers - and yes, it is the end of a trilogy!

Infinity War - Part 3

Warlock
Warlock

For May releases, except for the first flick in the MCU, Marvel has always scheduled big events or sequels to highly profitable franchises. The Avengers coming together on the screen is both a big event and a profitable endeavor - so what if"¦

Would you be so surprised if Thanos isn't defeated after Avengers: Infinity War Part 2? We wouldn't - he still has plenty of things to do until then. One of these things is finding all the Infinity Stones. Another would be realizing that he has the wrong Infinity Gauntlet and going after the right one. Another thing would be destroying the Nova Corps and getting rid of the Protectors of the Realms, the Asgardians.

So there are still plenty of things he should do - and, thus far, we haven't seen him demonstrating his power in any way. So maybe the first flick will be dedicated to defeating the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Nova Corps, and some of the Avengers (the rumor is that Stark will head into deep space and encounter the Guardians - all in the search of that big threat he saw in his vision). Then he will head to Asgard or Earth, where he will defeat the united forces of both the Avengers and what's left of the Asgardians (Ragnarok still came).

Only in the third Infinity War movie he will be defeated. Which leaves plenty of space for other superheroes to appear, such as Adam Warlock or even Nova. We wouldn't be surprised if the Infinity War proves to be a trilogy - after all, three whole Marvel phases have led to this final confrontation. Can this be one of the surprises, which couldn't have been revealed at this moment?

Fantastic Four returning home

Kang the Conqueror
Kang the Conqueror

Without a doubt, this year's Fantastic Four proved once again that Fox cannot handle this property. This final movie has made less in its entire run than what the first movie made in its first weekend - so saying that it was a flop is surely sugarcoating it.

Marvel has no reason at all to announce right now such a big surprise. And it has no reason not just because of the heroes the studio welcomes back - but also because of the villains which will become available.

One of the oldest rumors concerning the main baddie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Thanos is defeated says that Kang the Conqueror will become the ultimate threat (isn’t he a distant relative of Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four?). Other rumors say that Doctor Doom is the one who can make the entire Universe shiver.

Galactus is also another cosmic threat which cannot be used by Marvel, as far as we know it. So what if the first mysterious project introduces one of these villains? This could definitely be one helluva surprise for everybody.

What do you think? Which of these projects could be on Marvel's slate?
