Professor X

Logan isn’t just the last appearance of Hugh Jackman in the X-Universe – it is also the last time Patrick Stewart becomes Professor X. There were quite a few pics leaked from the set that suggested that Professor X is on his last run – the trailer makes it even clearer. He is the one who asks Wolverine for help to protect the little girl, but he is also in dire need of help.

Considering his role in Wolverine’s life on the big screen, he is a father figure, and his death would throw Logan further into the pit of despair. And, if I read it correctly, he does die in Logan. And this makes the shot with all three of them at the table even more emotional.

The ending scene of the trailer could be misleading. But, if it isn’t, then Wolverine has just buried Professor X – I guess everybody assumes that Logan has a shovel in his hand. It would be quite a huge reveal for a first trailer. But I guess everybody knew from the start that not all heroes will survive.
