6. Maxwell Lord
God, what a jerk. What an absolute, irredeemable, villainous jerk. This a**hole took Ted Kord from us, and I am STILL MAD ABOUT THAT.
Maxwell Lord was a successful businessman with a sociopathic streak. After watching Lex Luthor use supervillains for business gains, Lord planned to do the same, but with superheroes. As such, he brought together the Justice League International. He served as the annoyed father figure of the JLI. Unfortunately, Max fell under the sway of the evil computer Kilg%re, and tried to take over the world. The League broke him free and Max resumed his normal business.
After the detonation of the Gene Bomb at the climax of Invasion, Max gained the power to control minds, although it caused him physical pain and gave him nosebleeds. After Mongul and Cyborg Superman’s destruction of Coast City, Lord lost his mother and was driven to deeply hate all super-powered beings.
He began taking action using Checkmate and the OMAC Project to eliminate all heroes. During this, he murdered Ted Kord, aka the Blue Beetle, and took control of Superman. In order to save the world, Wonder Woman broke Lord’s neck, killing him once and for all. That was for Kord, you jerk.
