For a while now, we have suspected that Cate Blanchett will appear in some manner in the next installment of the Thor franchise. And while the actress herself has only confirmed that she is supposed to talk with Marvel (as in sometime in the future) about appearing in Thor: Ragnarok, co-star Mark Ruffalo might have revealed a bit more than she was expected (we have no doubt that he acted as Marvel instructed him).
Thus, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor said that he would very much like to act alongside Cate Blanchett in a future movie. What movie exactly and what kind of role should the Oscar-winning actress have? Naturally, a bad-ass villainous one - or at least this is what Ruffalo says.
Talking about this subject, the actor said that he went as far as running towards her and literally begging her to take a role in the next Thor movie: “I saw her at the Governors' banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, "˜Please, please, please make this work! She's just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting." (via Entertainment Tonight)
Of course, this might just be a ruse - but we highly doubt it. We do believe that he is preparing the fans for the big reveal.
So what character can Cate Blanchett portray? Well, since she is one Hela-van actress"¦ This is a poor pun, but still - what other character could there be? We highly doubt it that she will be Enchantress, as Tom Hiddleston teased a while ago.
In the comics, Hela is the daughter of Loki - we doubt that she will be in the MCU as well, given the age difference between her and Hiddleston. But this can work out, without this small detail.
What do you think, though?
