The Suicide Squad Bringing Back Captain Boomerang, Confirms Jai Courtney!

Jai Courtney confirms Captain Boomerang's return in The Suicide Squad!

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will see the return of a cast member of David Ayer's original movie, one that has a fondness for a pink plush unicorn.

Aquaman and Shazam! producer Peter Safran made the remark earlier this month that The Suicide Squad is not a sequel, but instead is a total reboot. But that may not be totally correct after all. Jai Courtney, who portrayed Captain Boomerang in Ayer's August 5, 2016 release, has confirmed his return in Gunn's August 6, 2021 release. While promoting his upcoming family drama Storm Boy, the Aussie actor told Business Insider:

We’re getting ready to shoot in a few months’ time. There’s not much else I can reveal about it but, yeah, you’ll be seeing Boomerang back for sure.

Courtney doesn't make it clear whether any of his fellow Suicide Squad castmates would join him in The Suicide Squad. He shares his excitement about the project without giving away any further details on it. The 33-year-old actor adds:

I’m happy, it’s going to be fun. It will be different, for sure, but it’s going to be great.

Jai Courtney is the second name in the upcoming DC Comics adaptation's cast roster that we are certain of. The first one is, of course, that of Idris Elba, who is replacing Will Smith as Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot.

There have been rumors about Margot Robbie reprising Harley Quinn in the movie. But we're waiting for something a little more concrete on that front, especially with the character now joining the all-girl gang Birds of Prey.

If some recent reports are to be believed, James Gunn's Task Force X will introduce characters like Ratcatcher, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, Peacemaker and Killer Frost. The team will apparently find itself in the Middle East on a mission against Onslaught.
