The Killing Joke - First Look

The Killing Joke

While the DC side of the superhero movie universe has all lights shining towards Batman v Superman right now, we didn't really forget that The Killing Joke is finally being adapted"¦Granted, it isn't for the big screen, and it isn't even a live action film. But considering the quality of the DC animations, we can presume that it is all for the better.

And how couldn't it be, when Mark Hamill returns to voice the Joker in The Killing Joke, together with Kevin Conroy (who is considered by many to be the best Batman voice out there). Take these into account, along with the persistent rumor that this will be the first R-rated animation coming from DC, and you can bet that our expectations are higher than ever.

To mark the official announcement of the main cast, Mark Hamill Tweeted the first official image, taken straight from the animation. The caption? Well, the caption is lifted straight from Alan Moore's original script, and it says:

All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy…Just one bad day.

This isn't all, though. The actor re-Tweeted the same picture two more times, each time with different caption text. The first one reads, “Remember there’s always madness…Madness is the emergency exit.” The second one is even more iconic for the Clown Prince of Crime: “If I have to have a past, then I prefer it to be multiple choice.”

Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill have previously lent their voices to Batman and Joker in The Batman Animated Series. Tara Strong, who voiced a multitude of characters in many Batman related productions, will lend her voice to Barbara Gordon, while Ray Wise will do the same for Commissioner Gordon.

The Killing Joke will be released sometime this year.
