The Justice League Part One: Possible Additions To Cast

The Justice League

The Justice League Part One is set to release November 17th, 2017. While 2 years seem like a long time, talks about the epic DC venture are not necessarily untimely.

Sure there's one Dawn of Justice and one Suicide Squad on the horizon (2016), not to mention Wonder Woman, set to release 5 month before The Justice League.

But given The Justice League is such an important "episode" of the development of the DC universe, taking a look at the confirmed and rumored cast is the least we can do.

So, who's in and who would we like to see on board with Snyder's venture? Hit the jump and feel free to complete the roster!

The Justice League confirmed cast

No surprise to see the core of the Justice League already in place. And some supporting characters already cast.

Thus, The Justice League Part One will see Henry Cavill reprising the role of Superman for the third time.

Ben Affleck's Batman will be first introduced to us in the upcoming Dawn of Justice, and The Justice League will be his third time to play the Caped Crusader (also including a brief appearance in Suicide Squad).

Gal Gadot will return as Wonder Woman. And Jason Momoa - also debuting as Aqauaman in Dawn of Justice - will come back as the Kind of the Seven Seas in The Justice League.

Who's left? Well, DC is in need of one Flash, one Green Lantern and one Martian Manhunter in order to complete the founding team. But the characters are yet to be cast, so all we can do is speculate. So hit the jump to see who might be on board with The Justice League!

Also, let's not forget about Lois Lane: Amy Adams will play Superman's love interest for the third time in The Justice League.

Ray Fisher will debut as Cyborg in the upcoming Batman V Superman, and he's also locked in for The Justice League Part One and for a standalone movie. Why is Cyborg so important? Well, in the comics, Cyborg is one of the members of the extended Justice League.

With that in mind, let's see who might also chip in. The following could also be part of The Justice League cast.

Ezra Miller as the Flash

It is known: Ezra Miller is DC's new Flash.

He is already confirmed for the solo debut in 2018 and rumored for Batman V Superman. Despite fans' disappointment with DC's choice of not picking Grant Gustin for the big screen, Ezra Miller is the one they'll use for the cinematic universe.

And can we hope to see him in The Justice League? Well, he is kind of central to the league, on a par with Superman and Batman, so leaving him out surely makes no sense.

Of all possible additions to the cast, Ezra Miller as the Flash seems the most likely.

Common as Green Lantern

I really don't see Ryan Reynolds returning as Green Lantern, not after the disappointing box-office performance of the movie in 2011.

Plus, his involvement in Deadpool would really make his comeback as Hal Jordan quite strange, given the rivalry between the studios and the cinematic universes (Fox and Warner Bros, on the one hand, and Marvel and DC, on the other hand).

But actor-rapper Common confessed he would be thrilled to play Green Lantern, John Stewart that is, not Hal Jordan.

So, if Zack Snyder picks this identity of Green Lantern, why not go with Common? Common was, in fact, cast as Green Lantern in George Miller's Justice League Mortal.

The movie never happened, but Common is still willing to take the opportunity if presented. One more thing: DC's slate until 2020 also includes a Green Lantern solo movie, so a movie like The Justice League would be the perfect occasion to introduce him.

Idris Elba for the Martian Manhunter

The Martian Manhunter is a sort of forgotten hero. He has little to no prominence on TV or on the big screen. But will they include him in The Justice League?

He is one of the founding members of the league. Add to that his powers exceed Superman's. So why not bring him out for a change and grant him the place he deserves on screen?

As to Idris Elba playing DC's hero, well, that might look like a strange choice, given Elba's involvement in Marvel franchises. But Elba repeatedly voiced his discontent as to this engagement.

So see him on board with DC would be an idea of a change I'd like to see happening.

Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam

Black Adam's connections to the league are not that obvious. Why would Snyder even consider slotting him in The Justice League Part One?

First of all, if you look at DC's slate until 2020, all titles reference heroes that one way or another are related to the league. But Black Adam is not.

He is, however, Captain Marvel's arch-enemy. And Captain Marvel (also known as Shazam) is part of the extended league. If Snyder wanted it, he could find a way to work out Black Adam in The Justice League Part One.

But will he? I surely hope so, because Dwayne Johnson is not one actor to grab for a hit and run job, and then let go. He's an asset to DC, so they'd better offer him more prominence on screen.

Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth

A superhero team-up is not entirely about superheroes. Sidekicks are necessary.

And as far as the Batcentric side of the DC universe is concerned, I can hardly imagine Batman without his faithful butler, guardian and friend by his side, Alfred Pennyworth.

And Jeremy Irons seems to be the obvious choice, given he'll also play the part in Dawn of Justice.

Laurence Fishburne as Perry White

Perry White is not exactly the counterpart of Pennyworth in the Superman lore. But it is one of the most constant characters in the Kryptonian's mythology.

So we could safely assume he'll be present in The Justice League Part One. It's not that he'll play a key role, but if Superman is there, he could easily be assumed.

Kind of like the way Lois Lane always appears if Superman is involved. And, of course, if Snyder decides to bring Perry White along, the obvious choice is to keep Laurence Fishburne for the role.

Unless they intend to recast the part. Again.

Jena Malone as Carrie Kelley / Robin

It's not yet clear what part Jena Malone will play in Dawn of Justice, but chances are she'll portray the new Robin - the female Robin - Carrie Kelley.

If Batman V Superman introduces her as Robin, she'll have to stick with Batman for more than just one "episode": she is a sidekick - in fact, she is THE sidekick. And what better way to create continuation than to work Robin in The Justice League?

So, there you have it: the confirmed cast of The Justice League and some possible additions I surely hope to see happening.

But what do you think, guys? Is my roster plausible? How would you amend the list? Have your say below via comments! And don't forget: stay tuned, we'll bring you the hottest scoop on all things DC!
